Design All-Over Print (AOP) products with full creative control, down to the last stitch.
Whether it's your first tote bag or a full product collection, the AOP Product Editor lets you design every printable panel with precision. It can look unfamiliar at first, but once you understand how it's structured, creating production-ready designs becomes fast and straightforward.
This guide covers every step: from uploading your artwork to preparing a print-ready sewing pattern.
⚡ Essential AOP Design Rules
- 2D sewing patterns: every AOP product is shown as a flat sewing pattern. You design individual fabric pieces (front, back, lining, pocket, etc.), not a finished 3D product.
- Dashed line (safe zone): keep every important design element inside the dashed line so it isn't lost in the stitching.
- Outer edge (bleed allowance): extend your design fully past the dashed line to avoid unprinted white gaps after sewing.
- Resolution protection: the editor automatically warns you if your file's DPI drops below print quality standards.

1. Understanding the AOP Editor Layout
Before designing, here's a quick look at the editor interface. Every tool is placed for faster, more accurate design work.

1. Decoration Method & Design Area
Select the product part currently being edited (front, back, handles, lining, pocket, etc.).
2. Upload Image & Add Text
Import your custom graphics or add custom text directly onto the product part.
3. Browse Designs & Patterns
Access your saved designs or explore the Pattern Design library.
4. Preview, Download & Delete
Preview your design, download a preview image, or delete selected artwork.
2. Uploading Your Own Designs
Once you upload a file, a carousel toolbar appears below the editor. Use the arrows on either side to move between tools:

From this toolbar, you can:
- Adjust pattern repeat
- Change file size
- Align the image within the design area
Controlling file resizing (lock icon): between the Width and Height boxes, a lock icon controls scaling behavior:
🔒 Locked icon
Your file scales proportionally, keeping its original aspect ratio.
🔓 Unlocked icon
Adjust width and height independently for custom scaling.
This gives you full flexibility to match your design perfectly to the printable area.
3. AOP Product Template & Tote Bag Example
Every AOP product is shown as a 2D sewing pattern. Instead of decorating a finished product, you decorate the individual fabric pieces that are later sewn together. Here's a walkthrough using an AOP tote bag as an example.
Designing the Front Side

| Within the dashed line | Represents stitching. Everything within this line stays visible once the product is sewn, so keep all important design elements here. |
| Outside the dashed line | Used as bleed allowance for hemming. Design the whole sewing pattern, including this area, to avoid unprinted gaps. |

Once you're happy with the front, repeat the same process for the back side of the tote bag.

Once the back is done, design the front and back handles using the same process.
And that's it, your AOP Tote Bag is ready. Order it directly or save it to your dashboard to export to your connected store.
4. File Sizing & DPI Warnings
If your file's DPI is lower than recommended, you'll see a clear warning both above the editor and in a pop-up when adding the item to your cart, ensuring your print quality always meets our standards.

5. Saving and Reusing Designs
Clicking "Create Product" saves your design to your account, so you can:
- Access it any time
- Re-edit or resize it
- Reuse the same design across different products

If you edit an existing saved design, you can either save over the original or create a new product version, whichever fits your workflow.

6. Using Ready-for-Print Designs by Pattern Design
Not everyone has their own artwork ready, that's why we've partnered with Pattern Design, giving you access to over 30,000 ready-for-print patterns from more than 900 designers worldwide. Every design can be recolored and personalized to match your brand.
How to add a design from Pattern Design:
- Click "Add Design" in the toolbar and select "Clipart Patterns" from the dropdown.
- Browse 9 pattern collections, each with subcategories by appearance or theme.
- Use the breadcrumb links at the top of the editor (e.g., Collections / Seasonal / Christmas Baby Fox) to navigate back.
- Once you find a pattern you like, recolor any element to any shade to match your brand.
- Save your pattern using "Create Product" to revisit, re-edit, or apply it to other fabrics or products later.
